Job Summary:

The Assistant Director will participate in the recruitment activities of the office, including application review, interviewing students, outreach activities, program and event management, and recruitment travel. This is an opportunity for an individual who is eager to join a diverse, dynamic and student-centered team.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a recruitment territory and participate in extensive recruitment travel throughout the year.

  • Maintains communication with prospective students, families and school counselors.

  • Represent Muhlenberg College to prospective students, families and counselors at events ranging from one-on-one to large presentations. 

  • Review applications for admission, interview prospective students, and serve on the Admissions Committee.

  • Manage admissions recruitment events and programs (on and off campus and virtual).

  • Manage program portfolio and confidential records that may include student volunteer programs, data management, office/market research, financial aid administration/counseling, event management, transfer admissions, or communications depending upon skill set and interests.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • One to two (1-2) years of experience in an undergraduate admission office.

  • Able and willing to travel, including long distance travel by automobile, train, and airplane to cover assigned territory.

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience with high schools, community colleges, and/or community-based organizations supporting college access and success.

  •  Experience working with diverse populations.

  •  A strong commitment to the residential liberal arts and sciences undergraduate experience.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with public speaking experience.

  • Willing and able to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to remain flexible with strong, work ethic to meet time and energy demands.

  • Fluency in Spanish, strongly preferred but not required.

  • Experience with Slate Constituent Relationship Management system, Microsoft Office suite, and/or Google Apps suite.

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as carry and transport forty (40) pounds of materials and/or equipment.

  • Successful completion of background checks, including but not limited to education, credit, national criminal background, and driving.
