Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Student Activities, under general direction, coordinates, develops, and assesses comprehensive programs to include Student leadership development, non-traditional programs, and new initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and develops student programming such as leadership development, non-traditional programs, and new initiatives.
  • Supervises other Student Activities programs ensuring success. Program areas include student leadership development, student organizations, Greek Life and special events.
  • Assists with the development of departmental budgets, goals, policies, contract administration, and assessment of programs.
  • Supervises staff and student employees and provides support and guidance to coordinators who are directly responsible for each program.
  • Develops and administers risk management programs and policy audits.
  • Serves on University councils and committees and assists with special projects.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements co-curricular transcript, student activity and registered student organization programs that enhance learning, involvement in campus life, leadership development, and success outside the classroom.
  • Plans, coordinates, develops, and implements new policies, procedures, and practices relating to student activities and registered student organization programming.
  • Develops departmental goals, objectives, and procedures on a yearly basis. Conducts periodic evaluations of operations, programs, personnel, and resources.
  • Plans and delivers educational seminars, workshops, and activities for campus student organizations, housing, and academic classes.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education - Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience - Six years of related experience in management of Student Activities programs.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Six years of related experience in event planning, advising, and/or supervising in a higher education setting, and developing/managing budgets.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to:
  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Licensing / Professional Certification - None.

Physical Requirements - Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.

  • This position generally supervises employees.

Starting Salary: $44,912/annually
