Diesel Technology/John Deere/Power Generation Instructor

Vincennes University is currently seeking a highly qualified instructor to teach in our Diesel programs. We have an opening in one of three fields. This is a full-time position with benefits.

1. John Deere Technical Instructor.
2. Diesel Technical Instructor.
3. Power Generation Technical Instructor.

Applicants should be highly knowledgeable in one of the three fields, John Deere, Diesel, or Power Generation industry, possess at least 5 years of industry experience, and be interested in developing tomorrow’s top technicians. Strong Electrical and Electronic skills with prior teaching experience and shop management are a plus, but we do offer ongoing in-house Instructor training and ready-to-use curriculum materials.

Candidates should possess solid communication skills and the ability to provide quality instruction.Responsibilities:
• Prepare for classroom instruction by applying strong organizational and planning skills.
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
• Provide students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
• Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and professionally presented task demonstrations in the shop.
• Maintain a professional and positive image for students.
• Demonstrate competent knowledge of the subject matter.
• Assign and grade class work and homework and provide evaluative feedback to students.
• Utilize computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations and demonstrations.
• Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
• Complete student records as required by laws, college policies, and administrative regulations.
• Assist in assessing curricular needs and offer improvement plans.
• Evaluate student performance against industry standards.
• Enforce all college policies and rules governing students.
• Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Obtain and maintain all required professional certifications and credentials for the department and subjects taught.
• Provide evidence of professional growth activity and technical update activity to maintain and to develop as an outstanding instructor.
• Prepare students for later educational experiences by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities.
• Other related duties as assigned

• Physical Demands: Physical ability is needed to successfully complete tasks in the classroom and laboratory environments. Ability to lift 40 pounds

Required.Salary: Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the credentials of the candidate.
