Job Description

The Department of Psychology at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Successful candidates must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching and a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in and outside of the classroom. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to and/or experience with inclusive pedagogy are especially encouraged to apply. We particularly seek candidates with a demonstrated ability to engage and/or mentor students from underrepresented groups as they navigate their academic careers. Areas of research should focus on aging and gerontology, and should be accessible for undergraduate participation.

The Caiafa Center for Psychological Science at Providence College features flexible human lab space and state-of-the-art classroom facilities. Additionally, the College provides reimbursement of relocation costs, and financial support for faculty development. Faculty may also apply for a semester-long paid sabbatical to support their scholarship before tenure.

Essential Duties

Candidates should expect to teach courses in their specialty area as well as contribute to the greater psychology curriculum.

Typical teaching load is three courses per semester with a cap of 15-25 students per class.

Education and Experience Required

Candidates should possess a doctorate in clinical/counseling or developmental psychology (with aging or gerontology expertise) though ABD with graduation expected by the fall of 2023 will be considered.
