Digital Content Specialist

Position Description:

As a member of the Office of Communications and Marketing, you will manage and create content for the College's official social media channels, including a demonstrated ability to be strategic with content creation and implementation, savvy, think creatively, and take initiative.

Job Responsibilities:

  • 35% - Generate photos and written content for social media, website(s), and other platforms.
  • 30% - Generate videos, including live-streaming, for use on social media, YouTube, website(s), and other platforms.
  • 20% - Event coverage (photo and/or video) at College functions, including occasional evening and weekend events.
  • 10% - Work with the department’s digital media agency on advertising and SEO campaigns.
  • 5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned.


  • The position is located on the Thiel College campus in Greenville, Pa.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a related field such as journalism, public relations or communications and two to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Willing to work on projects both individually and as part of a team.
  • Willing to continuously improve video, photography, and writing skills through professional development and other learning opportunities.
  • Digitally savvy - comfortable working with all social media platforms, computer operating systems and some Adobe programs.
  • Command of web content development and graphic design principles and techniques.
  • Technical knowledge across desktop, tablets & mobile platforms.
  • High standard of professional ethics and ability in respecting confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the College for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
  • Physical Requirements: The work requires occasional moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing. Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions.
  • A valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience tracking and reporting analytics using tools such as Google Analytics and Siteimprove. Knowledge of ExpressionEngine is a plus. Understand interface design concepts and methodologies, including ADA compliance.
  • Experience in higher education marketing
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills, attention to detail and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks while achieving a high level of accuracy.
  • Aptitude for thriving under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
