Albright College is actively looking for a Controller to lead and oversee the College's accounting functions. The candidate will help support and create a full participating atmosphere aligning with the college's mission to cultivate diverse community from all demographics.

This position will provide leadership and direction in administering the various accounting functions that support the development, analysis and reporting of both internal and external financial operating statements of the College as well as the financial reporting to various organizations, governmental agencies for regulatory or compliance purposes and to a variety of foundations and individuals for fiduciary stewardship. Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to enhancing equity and inclusion within the team and across a culturally diverse campus while celebrating people of all statuses and identities. This commitment must shine through all job functions including but not limited to, campus wide projects and teamwork, explanation of the financial performance, treasury management, application of budgetary control and goals and the update and application of internal controls, and daily interactions with colleagues and students.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the various functions including, but not limited to, cash management, accounts payable, cashier/bursar, loan receivables and accounting, payroll, etc.

2. Ensure that specialized reports are timely and accurately prepared in the exercise of the institution's fiduciary relationship.

3. Prepare timely periodic financial statements at both the organization and component unit levels.

4. Manage the annual budget process (both Capital and Operational) and provide for timely management reports to various functional units.

5. Provide assistance to the VP of Finance & Strategic Partnership is the annual maintenance and update of the College's long-range financial projection.

6. Provide leadership and organizational skills necessary to coordinate the conversion to a new accounting software system.

7. Play a major role in the management of advising students on the financing of educational costs.

8. Maintains and updates internal control mechanisms.

9. Develop and/or update financial policy and procedures.

10. Enforcement of established financial policies and procedures. 

11. Coordinate the management of the annual audit and prepare both internal and external financial statements.

12. Provide cross coverage to other staff members as necessary.

13. Other duties as deem appropriate.


Qualifications/Prerequisites:

1. COMMUNICATION

a. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable interacting with all functional level both inside as well as outside the College.

b. Must be comfortable communicating the College's governing body


2. SKILLS

a. Demonstrated commitment to building an inclusive and equitable Albright community, as described in Albright College's Inclusivity and Equity Statement.

b. Possess dynamic leadership, creativity, and vision that would support the continuing development of the Office of Controller.

c. Demonstrate strong administrative, management, interpersonal, and problems solving skills.

d. Strong knowledge of GAAP and not-for-profit accounting and reporting. 

e. Strong computer literacy with Microsoft products, ERP systems, and other financial systems.

f. High degree of confidentiality.


3. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

a. Possess knowledge of the rules and regulations related to the business and finance aspects of managing the College.  

b. Higher Education experience preferred but comparable experience will be accepted.


4. EDUCATION

a. Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of seven years experience of progressively responsible experience

b. Master's degree preferred but demonstrated experience in the ability to both prepare and analyze financial statements through the audit engagement in lieu of Master's degree.


5. LICENSES

a. CPA desirable but not required.
