Assistant Business Manager
Following and applying departmental, college and university policies and procedures, the Assistant Business Manager position consists of the following responsibilities:
Providing detailed financial reports
Assisting with the management of complex funds including monitoring expenses and processing cost transfers
Reviewing reconciliations for payroll entries, credit card statements, and monthly fund statements
Reviewing all department expenses for accuracy
Oversee grant management including acting as a liaison between faculty and the Office of Sponsored Programs
Assist faculty with grant transaction information
Processing accounts receivable transactions for departmental service centers and study abroad recoveries
Overseeing wage payroll process
Providing guidance and training to departmental fiscal and reception staff
Serving as the main point of contact for processing and solving problems pertaining to the high volume of financial transactions for the Department of Biological Sciences
Assisting in the management of the daily operations of the Business Office.
This position is onsite with the possibility of some remote work.
Working knowledge of bookkeeping and office practices and procedures; personal computer experience including database management systems, spreadsheets, word processing, and email applications; ability to organize, prioritize, maintain accurate records, and work with numerical data; ability to work with a variety of people with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
Experience with University administrative and fiscal procedures using the Banner database, HokieMart, ChromeRiver, TimeClock Plus, and Labor Redistribution systems; experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; and experience with access control procedures.
Commensurate with experience but within budget maximum
