Assistant Professor of Comparative Theology, with expertise in Christianity and Islam

Full-time tenure-track faculty opening in Comparative Theology, with expertise in Christianity and Islam, at the rank of assistant professor. Doctoral training in one of these two religions, as well as expert knowledge (including relevant linguistic competence) of the other religion is required. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate core courses on Islam in dialogue with Christianity, as well as more specialized undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants should have a record of scholarship in their field and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

This position is an appointment within the Theology Department and the successful candidate will participate fully in the academic life of the Department. The faculty member will teach two courses each semester (which by agreement with the Department Chair may include Theology Core courses, graduate seminars, or undergraduate electives) and advise graduate and undergraduate students. The tenure and promotion process will proceed through the Theology Department.

This appointment will begin in July 2023, with teaching duties beginning mid-August 2023.


Completion of PhD required by August 31, 2023.
