Job Description

The Second Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach with organizing and conducting practices; and performing other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Assistance and awareness of the academic success of student athletes is a priority for all coaches.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.


Required Education

A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 30 hours of college credits are required. A bachelor's degree is preferred.

Required Experience

A minimum of three (3) years of experience with a combination of active game situation coaching at the high school, club/select, or collegiate level and professional playing/coaching experience is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Expertise in baseball and excellence in coaching and instruction in practice and contests while serving as a positive example of a leader and role model. Other requirements include:
  • a valid driver's license and a good driving record with fewer than three points
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications
  • prior experience with recruiting efforts and student-athlete retention
  • excellent and effective communication skills
  • prior experience and participation in development, fundraising and corporate sponsorship efforts.
Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates familiar with NJCAA and Maryland JUCO guidelines and policies.

General Weekly Work Schedule

Hours vary. Final work schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
