Position Summary:
The Internal Communications Representative supports communication strategies and tactics aimed at engaging and informing WGU employee audiences, enabling them to support our students and our mission. The person in this position will build strong relationships and work closely with different teams and leaders across the university to develop audience-focused strategies and content. This person will put communication plans into action by creating compelling written and visual communications for multiple audiences and will use a variety of channels including email newsletters, the WGU employee intranet, and employee events. This person will work effectively with teammates and internal stakeholders to solve complex problems, will adapt quickly when needed, and will support projects outside of the core role to accomplish objectives that advance WGU's mission and vison.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Create content for newsletters, emails, presentations, monthly Town Hall meetings, and the employee intranet
- Edit and proofread content for accuracy, appropriateness, and grammar while ensuring the content meets internal communications best practices and follows our style guides
- Collaborate with individuals and teams to develop and integrate communication plans that support university initiatives
- Develop strategies to foster and measure employee engagement
- Development, implement, and maintain policies and procedures relating to internal communications
- Support employee events planning and implementation
- Manage projects that support internal communications
- Support special initiatives, as needed
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Organizational Development, or related field of study
- Minimum of three years of experience in communications

- Content Management Systems (SharePoint, intranet pages/site layout)
- Ability to take complex information and create audience-specific content that is understandable
- Experience with graphic design and video production (Adobe Suite)
