Job Description

Job Description: Assist faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, and other miscellaneous projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Tutor or mentor students.
  • Perform laboratory research.
  • Clean labs and set up or remove specimens.
  • Obtain materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials.
  • Prepare presentations for lectures.
  • Deliver lectures.
  • Hand out assignments and grade papers.
  • Proctor examinations.
  • Record grades and inform students of their final grades.
  • Meet with students during office hours.
  • Help professors and teachers develop course plans.
  • Enforce laboratory rules.
  • Take attendance and record responses.
  • Correspond with students on Blackboard or related inter-campus communication system.
  • Coordinating research sessions
  • Data collection, coding and scoring
  • Data entry of research data
  • Assisting with recruitment of participants if project requires
  • Assisting in the training and scheduling of research assistants if project requires
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
Experience:
  • Must NOT be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at TAMIU.
  • Two semesters or more experience working in a research environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Interact professionally with University students, staff and the general public.
  • Deal with diverse problems and situations, and find solutions to those problems.
  • Learn quickly and adapt to the functions of the different research projects in the laboratory.
  • Learn the forms needed for each research project.
Other Requirements:
  • Position may require a flexible working schedule to work evening hours as necessary.
  • Position is subject to funding and/or need.
