Position Highlights

The Business and Administration Shared Services team in UITS is recruiting two Financial Business Partners to support the needs of multiple areas within the division. These positions report to the Executive Director of Finance and Administration and are responsible for financial analyses, monthly expense reporting, Amazon Web Serivces (AWS) billing and pricing models, business process improvements and training. The successful candidates will also work closely with the Financial Operations team and Service Managers across UITS.
We are looking to hire enthusiastic, organized, and analytical individuals who are eager to join our financial team and who have a keen interest in growing their financial expertise. We offer the opportunity to learn how the cloud impacts our business and to train to become a certified AWS practitioner! Candidates will have the opportunity to work in a remote first environment (from Arizona).
The selected individuals will have proactive problem solving and communication skills and demonstrate proficiency of the University financial systems and tools to prepare requested reports and recommend strategies for managing financial transactions.

Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Obtains, organizes, and analyzes financial data and prepares reports
- Performs cost-benefit analyses of cloud operations and recommends billing and pricing models
- Works closely with colleagues within the Business and Administration Shared Services team to ensure understanding of in-year variances
- Designs and implements the use of analytical reporting systems
- Ensures
a strong partnership exists with key stakeholders to support their
business objectives for organizational performance and delivery of plans
and acts as a consultant
Budgeting
- Manages departmental budget and personnel funding: prepares operational, personnel, multi-year, and special project budgets, analyzes departmental statistics and data for planning, monitors for over/under budget spending, ensures expenditures and accounts are properly coded, prepares budget reports, explanations, and overviews, and enacts operational changes as needed
- Assists during the annual departmental budgeting process
- Collaborates with the financial team members to develop operational budgets to support the overallUITSmission and strategies
Accounting:
- Performs complex accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the institution's financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements
- Reconciles complex accounts and checks the accuracy of journal entries to ensure that the general ledger is accurate and complete
- Prepares complex specialized reports and analyses. Submits recommendations for improved processes. Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies concerning accounting issues and suggests appropriate corrective procedures
- Checks and analyzes financial information and prepares complex financial reports and accounting statements so that users have accurate and timely information for making financial decisions
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Proficient skills in using University financial systems and tools to prepare requested reports and recommend strategies for managing financial transactions
- Proactive problem solving and communication skills
- Basic understanding of AWS Cloud platform operations
- Interest in IT applications, IT processes, software and hardware
- Intermediate MS Excel skills
- Knowledge of cost and financial accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting financial analyses
- Demonstrated skill in applying accounting and financial management practices and principles
- Knowledge of financial and analytical systems
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to effectively communicate financial information to various audiences
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently as well as work collaboratively on a team in a remote work environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting Management Information Systems, or related field
- Proficient experience working with MS Excel
- Experience in UAccess Analytics and UAccess Financials
