Assistant Director for Career Development

Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Assistant Director will design and guide strategies for developing relationships with employers, recruiters, and other community partners. The primary contact for external partners to facilitate internships, part- and full-time employment opportunities for students and alumni. Conducts external outreach with employers, which includes phone calls, off-site visits, and participation in other community activities as needed. Works with faculty and staff to coordinate internships, student employment, and help facilitate other career related programming and events.

Credentials/ Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or other related fields
  • Advanced degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, Leadership, Or related Preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working in higher education or student development is desirable

Essential Functions

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with potential and current employers and supports recruiting activities of the department for part- & full-time employment, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities.
  • Organizes and sets the annual recruiting calendar; coordinates employer information sessions, interviews, networking events, and fairs.
  • Assists with the organization and execution of on-campus and consortia career fairs and networking events.
  • Utilizes the career management system to maintain employer and student activity records, manage career and employer events, and coordinate communications to employers and students utilizing the system.
  • Assists with the marketing and promotion of Career Development recruiting events; including use of social media.
  • Help coordinate on and off campus student employment and federal community work study opportunities.
  • Compile and report data on employer relations activities, assess employer relations efforts, and provide feedback as to the effectiveness of such efforts.
  • Assists with the administration and tracking of student outcome data upon graduation & at 6 months, 1 year, using Qualtrics/Excel.
  • Track job market demand, trends in recruiting, job-offer data, and hiring results for students in various academic majors.
  • Provide coaching support to students regarding resume/cover letter development, job and internship search and help facilitate career related workshops, class presentations, etc.
  • Attend administrative staff meetings and participate in professional development activities
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of the Career Development.
