Carlow University is recruiting a full-time undergraduate faculty member for the Carlow University BSN program. The successful candidate will have recent clinical experience in critical care nursing and an ongoing commitment to faculty practice. Experience teaching at the undergraduate level is preferred as is academic preparation at the doctorate level in nursing or a related field. Those enrolled in a doctorate-level program and near completion will be considered. This position will begin in August 2022 and academic rank will be determined by credentials and academic teaching experience.

Faculty are expected to comply with the roles as outlined in the Carlow University and College of Health and Wellness (CHW) Faculty Handbooks

  • Create an environment in classroom, laboratory and clinical settings that facilitates student learning and the achievement of desired cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes.
  • Facilitate learner development and socialization, supporting students in the application of knowledge to practice, facilitating student autonomy in their specific healthcare role, and promoting self-confidence that leads to professional competency
  • Ensuring students have access to learning experiences essential to their development as practitioners.
  • Representing the mission and values of Carlow University and the College of Health and Wellness to all.
  • Mentoring and serving as a role model for students.
  • Engaging in activities that are consistent with academic and professional standards.
  • Use a variety of evidence-based strategies to assess and evaluate learning in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to learners
  • Serve as an academic advisor
  • Participate in curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes, formulating program outcomes and designing curricula that reflect relevant health care trends and educational standards.
  • Function as a change agent and leader to create the preferred future for nursing education and practice and enhance the visibility of nursing and its contributions to the academic community.
  • Pursue continuous quality improvement by ongoing commitment to develop and maintain role competence.
  • Engage in scholarship as defined by the Boyer Model
  • Participate in service to the university, profession, and community. 
  • Valid, current, unrestricted licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of PA with appropriate national certification as indicated.
  • Master's degree required, a doctorate in nursing or related field preferred. Those enrolled in a doctoral program may be considered
  • Qualified through academic preparation and clinical expertise to teach the subject assigned and meet standards for academic appointment. 
  • Recent clinical experience in acute care nursing and an ongoing commitment to faculty practice.
  • Clearances—Upon hire and updated every three years or more often as required by affiliating facilities, including: FBI (Act 73) and (Act 33 and 34)
  • Compliance with all clinical agency requirements.
