Job Summary

The Purchasing Agent assists the Purchasing Department in its effort to meet the purchasing and storage needs of the campus community. Several of the chief tasks include facilitating the purchasing process, preparing bid proposals, vendor management, and special projects and events.

Scope

Support the Purchasing Department serving as the Purchasing Agent and facilitating purchasing for the campus community.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Meet with departments to identify needs, acquire quotes and select vendors for purchases
  • Process daily purchase requests
  • Prepare and evaluate various bid proposals
  • Serve as a business agent of the University and exercise the authority to commit University resources
  • Resolve product and service issues with vendors
  • Assist Purchasing, Controller's Office, and others to resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Oversee warehouse and stockroom operations including inventory management software and surplus property
  • Coordinate service repair requests with contractors
  • Oversee surplus property sales and disposal. This includes monitoring central storage facilities.
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Director of Business Services
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Two to three years of similar work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field
