Position Highlights

Financial Services seeks a full time Accounts Payable Analyst I to coordinate the daily activities and functions of the Accounts Payable, PCard and Travel to ensure compliance and integrity of the FSO Operations unit. The primary function of this incumbent will be PCard with a secondary in Accounts Payable/Travel. This position requires a conscientious individual who will display a high degree of professionalism and possesses skills in setting priorities while managing a wide variety of duties with minimal supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Effectively manages, protects, prepares, collects, and interprets Accounts Payable and PCard Financial information.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the PCard, Accounts Payable and Travel analysis including approval, funding, receipt verification, tax withholding, reporting.
  • Work closely with vendors and campus departments regarding inquiries.
  • Maintain electronic files of financial documents and apply appropriate accounting codes.
  • Responsible for properly reviewing and coding transactions for sales/use tax and 1099 tax implications.
  • Datamining and analysis of transactional details to ensure compliance and accounting principles are in place.
  • Utilize automation practices to facilitate compliance and identify restricted or unallowable purchases or fraudulent activity.
  • Create process improvements and campus business practices for an efficient Accounts Payable and PCard Program.
  • Ensure financial documents comply with University of Arizona, Human Resource and Risk Management policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain various spreadsheets for analysis, reporting and reconciliation.
  • Responsible for testing systems for upgrades, enhancements or streamlining processes.
  • Cross train with other business units to maintain current workflow.
  • Work closely in a team environment, or independently as priorities change rapidly.
  • Develop and provide training tools for customers and departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required AND one year of increasingly responsible office/clerical experience, which includes one year in a directly related function; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Experience in payment policies and procedures.
  • Data entry experience and experience maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience using organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in providing customer service within the global community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration or a related function which includes accounting course work AND one year progressively responsible experience in a directly related function; OR,
  • Five years progressively responsible experience in a directly related function which includes a broad exposure to all areas of accounts payable and accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience in utilizing logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Experience in problem solving, analysis and decision making.
  • Experience in communicating effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in organizing work assignments to meet deadlines and assist other areas during peak times.
  • Experience with University of Arizona systems such as UAccess Financials, UAccess Employee, and UAccess Analytics, including experience with their policies and procedures.
  • Certified Purchasing Card professional CPCP certification.
  • Experience with banking processes: Checks, Credit Card, ACH, wires, foreign drafts.
