POSITION: Executive Director of Institutional Advancement – Full-Time – Lufkin


It is the intent of the basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities that these minimum requirements should therefore, be referred to as a guide for, rather than a limitation to the services required.


The position will report to the College President for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Advise the President regarding advancement strategies and tactics;
  • Represent the institution with the public and through participation in civic organizations, nonprofit boards, and community events;
  • Demonstrate an abiding commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college;
  • Work with campus constituents to identify funding needs and opportunities, in context of comprehensive campaign goals;
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Business Affairs and the President on the management of the College’s endowment;
  • Collaborate with Office of Communications, Office of Student Affairs, Office of the President, and other campus constituents to foster a positive public image for Angelina College;
  • Research funding opportunities through charitable foundations and collaborate with college constituencies as necessary to apply for funding;
  • Build and manage a portfolio/donor database of current donors and prospects;
  • Collaborate, develop, recommend, implement, direct, and/or sustain a strategy for comprehensive fundraising campaigns or other assigned fund raising, which may include collaboration with the third-party campaign consultants;
  • Manage special micro-campaigns as required (e.g., athletics, reunions, academic programs, technical equipment, etc.);
  • Focus on soliciting gifts to reach goals in the College long range plan, build donor base, and also focus on securing major gifts of $50,000 and above;
  • Develop and oversee alumni engagement strategy, with work toward increased alumni giving participation;
  • Effectively communicate with prospects through face-to-face meetings, personal letters, phone calls and emails;
  • Promote with all constituents planned giving opportunities and benefits; provide technical and gift planning assistance to donors, advisors, volunteers and other constituents; and
  • Respond to donor complaints or concerns and resolve problems.

  • Oversee and manage the Foundation Advisory Board to build strong ambassadors of the College
  • Plan and execute stewardship opportunities
  • Manage gifts to fulfill the intentions of donors

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience: Five years professional experience in fundraising, capital campaigns, donor relations, public or governmental relations, or related fields.
  • The College will consider equivalent combinations of education and experience


  • Use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) prospect management software, and other appropriate software;
  • Excellent communication skills and engaging interpersonal presentation style;
  • Demonstrated professional resourcefulness, ability to meet or exceed goals, and strong work ethic; and
  • Executive-level project or initiative management skills.
