Position Highlights

The Alternative Credentials Coordinator will serve as champion, point of contact, and administrative support for the expanding micro-credential and digital badging program at the University. Ensuring accurate records of the approval process of alternative credentials and application to student and learner records.

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the academic record. Serving all students, faculty, academic units, and student support functions; the Office is charged with the implementation of academic and student policies and their alignment to state and federal regulations and accreditation standards. The Office strives to be a leader and thought partner in creating efficient processes that are designed in a way that supports student success and service excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement shared governance approval process for alternative credential program including micro-credentials and digital badges.
  • Support implementation of standards and practice for alternative credentials across all academic levels, offerings, and platforms.
  • Research and benchmark industry best practices and make recommendations for improvements and new areas of opportunity.
  • Support departments on micro-credentials proposals.
  • Collaborate with the instructional technology team in Digital Learning and Office of Instruction and Assessment that oversee the digital badging platform.
  • Review proposals for submission to faculty committee and refer to other subject matter experts as appropriate.
  • Design and maintain the micro-credential proposal form and approval workflows
  • Convene and chair a micro-credentials work/advisory group.
  • Work with departmental and campus communication experts on marketing and brand compliance, and building awareness of alternative credential options.
  • Coordinate website content for program.
  • Oversee the awarding of badges to completers.
  • Educate learners on alternative credential opportunities and ways to promote competencies through earned badges.
  • Develop a process for assessment of alternative credential programs and learner experiences, and reporting of badges issued.
  • Gather input from campus partners and administrators.
  • Prepare adhoc and ongoing reports and summary documents.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience and/or familiarity with micro-credentials
  • Experience with maintenance of academic records
