Job Summary
The Communications Specialist I, under general supervision, writes, edits, and assists in the production and design of informational and promotional materials, with a special focus on digital and web enterprises.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Writes content for annual reports, brochures, flyers, news releases, technical papers, proceedings, newsletters, posters and presentations, and web.
- Assists with press briefings, media interviews, advertising, promotional activities, and special events.
- Assists in maintaining a tracking system for project timelines and costs.
- Monitors key web activities and participates proactively in dialog benefitting the assigned Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) member.
Additional Responsibilities
- Writes content for assigned print and digital projects, including web.
- Designs, reviews, and maintains TAMIU websites in accordance with University marketing and branding program
- Train, engage and mentor TAMIU web site content managers (CMs) on content marketing strategy and best practices and the use of the content management system (CMS).
- Identify CMs strengths to maximize productivity, monitoring task progress.
- Provide feedback on content marketing strategy.
- Ensure adherence of web content to style guides, branding guides, accessibility and copyright laws, TAMIU/TAMU System/THECB /State specifications.
- Identify opportunities for writing/editing marketing content for the web, optimize print copy for the web.
- Provide web-writing expertise to the University community.
- Education - Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field.
- Experience - No prior experience required.
Knowledge of:
- Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Project management.
- Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Present information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Content Management for web, HTML and dedicated web-authoring.

Salary: $16.04/hourly
