Wells College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Reference Librarian. The reference librarian is responsible for:

  • providing reference and referral services, assisting students, faculty, staff, and community library patrons in using available information resources
  • providing reference assistance to students at other colleges through the 24/7 multi-library system
  • supporting positive student outcomes and retention by focusing on OERs to reduce textbook related costs for students
  • offering library use instruction to students in credit courses, orientation, and other programs
  • supporting faculty in making information resources available to their students
  • staffing the library and covers the circulation and reference desk as needed.

Qualifications for Reference Librarian:

  • MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program, or scheduled completion of such a degree within six months of start date for this position.
  • Library work experience, including aiding library users.
  • Experience with library software or equivalent computer functions
  • Some teaching experience

Hours of Work for Reference Librarian

  • 10-month, full-time 35 hours per week; occasional nights and weekends as needed
