The New Student Coach is a vital role, serving as a resource and guide to prospective students and applicants. The New Student Coach provides high-quality service allowing prospective students to successfully complete the college onboarding process. New Student Coaches embrace a holistic model of care and use the case management approach to new student onboarding. New Student Coaches serve as the primary point of contact for a new student - decreasing fragmentation of services and providing quality care across a continuum of enrollment requirements. The New Student Coach keeps prospective students engaged from the first point of contact through registration. The New Student Coach will provide guidance and direction for prospective and new students and support them from the moment of first inquiry, decreasing the length of time spent from being interested in college to registering for college. This is accomplished by: downloading daily application reports, monitoring prospective student and applicant progress throughout the enrollment process, responding to all questions/inquiries, providing information about Laurel Ridge Community College career and educational pathways and the enrollment process. The New Student Coach will also need to be able to recognize and report potential bogus applications. The New Student Coach collaborates with college colleagues to remediate barriers to prospective student enrollment, with the goal of enrolling a prospect within 24-48 hours of first inquiry. College New Student Coaches are not expected to be content matter experts; however, they will have expertise in connecting with experts to allow for seamless onboarding. New Student Coaches will receive extensive training prior to meeting with students, a toolkit for on-the-job reference, and required ongoing professional development throughout the year. According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking, effective July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position, as defined by heads of agencies. Positions requiring more than two days of telework weekly will require approval from the Department of Education's Cabinet Secretary. Compensation and Benefits

Fiscal year 2021 is one of the strongest years for the VCCS in recent state budget history. The G3 (Get Skilled, Get a Job, Get Ahead) program, which went into effect on July 1, 2021, provides funding for tuition, fees, books and other expenses for eligible low- and middle-income students who are pursuing degrees in high-demand fields, including health care, information technology and computer science, manufacturing and skilled trades, public safety and early childhood education. Participants will be required to give back two hours of community service, public service, or work experience for each credit hour in which they are enrolled. Lawmakers allocated $5 million in the upcoming budget year to hire 60 additional much-needed community college advisors to help new students enroll and successfully navigate the world of higher education. Additionally, the legislature approved money to give state classified workers and college faculty (full-time and adjunct) 5-percent pay raises, effective July 1, 2021. VCCS leadership said it will work to ensure that P-14 part-time employees also receive pay raises.

LRCC continues to prepare for the future; our facility and campus improvement projects include the newly completed Luray-Page County Center (Jenkins Hall), as well as the Hazel Hall Building currently under construction at our Fauquier Campus in Warrenton.

Laurel Ridge Community College, located in the Northern Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont regions, is accepting applications for adjunct, part-time faculty positions. Positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Responsibilities include teaching college-level courses, which may include distance learning, as well as on-campus teaching, during the day, evening, and weekends.
