Position Announcement

Under the leadership of the Director of the Booth Wellness Center, the Family Nurse Practitioner (NP) serves as a member of the Utah Tech University Booth Wellness Center Team, dedicated to supporting and promoting the health and wellness of the Utah Tech campus community. The individual in this position is responsible for provision of clinical services and participating in community education and engagement activities. Responsibilities
  • Provide care to patients. This includes:
    • Analyzing patient medical history and prescribing medical courses of action, including some prescription medications.
    • Explaining treatment plans and educating patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
  • Treat walk-in patients according to medical need.
  • Proficient with the following procedures and knowledge areas, included but not limited to I&D's, suturing, pap smears, STI testing, contraception and physicals.
  • Provide culturally sensitive treatment to a broad range of individuals, including:
    • Psychological, social, and/or health difficulties that interfere with students' academic success.
    • Crisis intervention and support.
  • Provide consultation and outreach activities to university community.
  • Comply with confidentiality requirements as set by HIPAA, FERPA, federal, state and local regulations.
  • Precept student nurses in the clinic
  • Participate in health-related committees as requested by the Director and as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of Utah, or ability to become licensed within six months.
  • Competency in working with a diverse student population from multiple backgrounds and nationalities.
  • Comfortable teaching information on health maintenance, disease prevention, etc. to audience of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience in use of electronic health record (EHR) platforms.
  • Work cooperatively with patients, staff, and co-workers, with a service-oriented and team approach.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, and work in close contact with clients and health care providers.
  • Comfortable with common hazards and nature of position, meaning high level of confidentiality under HIPAA, potential exposure to hazards related to working in medical waste/sharp objects, and potential for exposure to contaminated blood and/or body fluids.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years' nursing practitionership experience.
  • Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Clinical experience with young adult university/college age population.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional clinical staff (overtime-exempt) position, at 0.75 FTE (40 hours per week, 9 months per year - majority of work hours concentrated around Fall and Spring academic semesters). Annual salary of $60,000 - $63,000 depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of August 2022.
