Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development

The Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development provides leadership and serves as the primary administrator for campus-wide programs and activities that promote social interaction, community development, and healthy social/educational entertainment for all Ringling College students. This position supervises student workers and leaders. Overseeing the Campus Activities Board, this individual will help student workers to plan, organize, and execute large-scale campus events. The Director will select, train, and supervise Orientation Leaders during New Student Orientation. The Director also provides oversight and guidance to student clubs and organizations. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for directing comprehensive leadership education opportunities for all levels of student leaders and manage the leadership education program. 

The Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development works with all members of the College community to create a living-learning environment that promotes active student engagement and development focused on the whole student. The Director will help oversee the day-to-day management of the student engagement software, assisting others in the College community as needed. A successful incumbent must take an intercultural and inclusive approach in developing events and programs, raising awareness, and building community focused on diversity. As a member of the Student Life Staff, this individual works to educate and assist all Ringling College students in the development of their full potential.

The position serves in the Student Life on-call duty rotation, and is live-on in a College-provided, furnished residence, including utilities, internet access, and requires the incumbent to be a positive role model for the College community. Hours may be varied and occasionally work days exceed 10 or 12 hours during peak times (balanced by non-peak times) including nights and weekends as needed given prime time periods for student events.

· Strong communication and organization skills.

· Ability to relate effectively to wide diversity of students, especially understanding the culture of artists and designers.

· Demonstrated commitment to college student learning.

· Ability to work collaboratively.

· Strong programming and leadership education experience.

· Enthusiasm, perseverance and a sense of humor. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

• Experience working within a College in the area of Student Life, preferably in a creative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or related field.

• Experience overseeing or using student engagement software.

• Minimum of two years post Master's work experience in Student Activities, Leadership Development, Residence Life, or related area within higher education.
