Position Highlights

The Director of Corporate Relations is responsible for creating a strategic corporate relations plan and executing the plan by building relationships with targeted corporate executives and key decision makers to:

  1. significantly increase the number of student internships and job opportunities,
  2. facilitate corporate win/win partnerships with faculty,
  3. support the CALS Career Center, and
  4. coordinate with CALS development officers to acquire major gifts.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Find ways for Corporate Relations to add value for the Career Center's goals
  • Develop a partnership with CALS Career Center and Corporate Relations
  • Identify specific corporations who are targets for internships and jobs
  • Develops corporate partnerships for CALS Centers of Excellence and academic units
  • Works with faculty to develop support for their programs
  • Travels in Az and CA Solicits prospects with an emphasis on $500K to $ 1 million+ gift capacity
  • Plans, coordinates, and schedules individual visits weekly utilizing prospect software (RE), introductory letters, emails, and phone calls to set appointments.
  • Supports and attends special activities/events for the college with alumni, donors & friends as needed
  • Provides direction for Ag 100, alumni newsletters, invitations, brochures, etc. as needed
  • Performs other duties assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to CALS academic units
  • Knowledge of organizational practice and governance.
  • Skills in organizing the work of self and others.
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as excel, word, etc.
  • Knowledge of UA systems
  • Knowledge of corporate programs and priorities
  • Ability to build trust and develop relationships with executives
  • Outstanding interpersonal/relationship skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications

Work Environment:

  • Regular travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in business.
  • Minimum of 9 years of related work experience, including 5 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • This position will be required to work evenings and/or weekends, as necessary.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license upon employment and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred
  • 8-15+ years of corporate relations experience or equivalent
  • Experience with establishing relationships with corporate executives.
  • Corporate relations experience in higher education
  • Experience working with university career centers
  • Experience working with volunteers, faculty, staff and students.
  • Experience managing programs and special events.
