Position Highlights

The Renquist Laboratory at the University of Arizona is looking for a Research Specialist interested in conducting research aimed at understanding the metabolic and cardiovascular effects of obesity. Current research in the lab is focused on the role of the liver GABA shunt and liver GABA transporters in obesity induced hypertension, insulin resistance, and hyperinsulinemia. These studies include genetic models, drug development, and clinical translation.

Although this job posting is focused on what we know we'll be working on we are sure that with the added knowledge the ideal candidate will bring, we will branch out and expand our research horizons. We are happy to train anyone who brings a different set of expertise that will advance our work. Our goals are to continuously extend the scope and application of our findings. Duties & Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will bring excellent research and
    critical thinking skills.
  • They will be
    able to formulate the next hypothesis and guide their research.
  • They are encouraged to apply their existing
    skillset to improve their research while in our research group.
  • The ideal candidate will be willing to learn
    new skills, will be self-motivated, and will have a high level of scientific
    enquiry.

  • They will be direct, yet
    polite, in their communication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • One year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Surgical Experience.
  • MS in any relevant field (i.e., Any biological science or chemistry).
