Job Summary
The Police Investigator, under direction, coordinates and conducts criminal investigations and maintains criminal intelligence for the Police Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Takes reports and performs preliminary investigations.
- Enforces criminal laws and violations.
- Investigates illegal or suspicious activities, persons, and establishments.
- Prepares timely reports of serious crimes that pose a threat to the University community.
- Reviews offense reports for criminal activity, pattern, and method of operations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Receives investigative assignments and instructions from supervisor, works in conformance with all laws, criminal procedures and departmental goals, policies and rules.
- Education - High school diploma or GED.
- Experience - Two years of related experience.
- Ability to act without direct supervision when need arises and exercises judgement in meeting emergencies or situations when elements of personal danger arise.
Ability to:
- Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer License.

Other Requirements
- Must successfully pass psychological evaluation, physical examination, and complete background investigation to include but not limited to driving history, criminal background, and credit history.
- Must be willing to work different shifts/hours including weekends.
Salary: $24.12/hourly
