Position Details:

Graphic Design Full Time Lecturer
The Department of Art and Design at Indiana State University offers NASAD-accredited programs and seeks a full-time Graphic Design Lecturer. This is a full-time appointment (non-tenure track) position, with responsibilities focused on organizing and teaching undergraduate courses related to design foundations that enhances and supports the mission and vision of Indiana State University, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Art and Design.
The Graphic Design program is housed in the newly renovated Fine Arts building. The $15 million state-of-the-art facility including fully equipped mac lab with 21 stations, a print finishing area with optional light tables, as well as a drawing studio.
The primary responsibilities include teaching courses in: Foundations of Graphic Design, Typography, Introduction to Adobe Creative Cloud applications Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Basic layout principles for both print and/or web (coding not required), and Marketing Graphics.
This full-time appointment includes teaching four to five courses each term, fall and spring semesters. When teaching four courses per semester, teaching responsibilities include writing curriculum under the mentorship of senior Faculty. This includes projects, assignments, and applicable tests.
Responsibilities include teaching in person while developing curriculum that is relevant to design trends and design education. The successful candidate will demonstrate the professionalism of a graphic designer, including emphasizing due dates and attention to detail, in both their own work and that of students. Keep current with upgrades and advancements in computer platforms and software used in professional design practices. A commitment to teaching undergraduates and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. Meet service requirements related to the Department of Art and Design, the College of Arts and Sciences and the University. Work collaborate with senior Faculty and Department Chair. Potential exists in the long term for transition to a more permanent position. Salary is competitive.

Preferred Relevant Education and Experience:
- Three Years of design-related professional employment or practice in Graphic Design. - Knowledge of UX/UI development principles. - Experience with prototyping software such as Adobe XD and Figma. - Experience in other studio art concentrations such as Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Printmaking. - Illustration skills in both analog (Prismacolor, COPIC markers, etc.) and digital. - Familiarity with a learning management system such as Canvas, Blackboard, etc.
