Coordinator, Outreach ZipAssist
The University of Akron, Office of Student Affairs, ZipAssist Department, is seeking to hire a Coordinator of Outreach. ZipAssist serves as a student advocacy and support office, intentionally designed to aid students in persistence through intervention, education, and resources. This position will focus on the academic needs of students through advocacy, guidance, support, and mentorship. The Coordinator of Outreach will provide intervention and ongoing support with a focus on academic matters and to include concerns related to financial and non-academic matters through the early alert referral program, Help-A-Zip. This position will regularly meet with students to ensure progress toward degree completion and student success.
As a member of the ZipAssist team, this Coordinator will administer student support through emergency financial assistance/aid, academic assistance, address personal/social matters and will maintain detailed records for case management. This integral position will manage response and support of students directly related to academic persistence, basic needs support, retention, and campus/community resources. Manage activities related to student outreach including, but not limited to, academic progress, enrollment, registration, progress toward completion, student financial assistance, student wellbeing. Position connects students to resources such as on/off-campus living, transportation, academic advising, accessibility, tutoring, career services, basic needs support, physical and mental health and wellness, testing, and financial wellness.
Coordinate ZipAssist events associated with financial literacy, new student welcome, academic-attainment celebrations, and campus resources. Develop and present informational sessions associated with ZipAssist services, programs, and initiatives. Assist in developing and maintaining strategic campus and community partnerships, such as mentoring programs and emergency grants. Conduct student trainings and educational sessions. Develop outreach programming related to ZipAssist programs and campus retention services. Direct student engagement and impact.
Relevant Bachelor's Degree; outreach and programming experience; exceptional customer service and communication skills; ability to maintain compliance with university, federal and state rules, and regulations.
Experience in college/university student services or student affairs; experience in behavioral health, education, or social work; experience with case management; experience with relational database/CRM.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
