The Office of Admissions at Oberlin College invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions/Coordinator of Visitor Experience. This is a full-time, 12-month, in-person, Administrative and Professional Staff position reporting to the Director of Admissions in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The Coordinator for Visitor Experience is responsible for hosting visitors to Oberlin’s campus who are seeking an exceptional experience related to the college search process. This position will lead the campus visit team by coordinating daily information sessions and tours, as well as overseeing cross-campus collaboration to organize specialized visit days and admitted student programs.

Additional responsibilities will vary, but may include tasks related to a specific area such as technology, event programming or communications.
  • Manage daily and group tours, and other activities to support recruitment efforts.
  • Plan and execute special programming/events to meet the needs of prospective students, parents and secondary school counselors.
  • Oversee the process to recruit, hire, train, motivate, supervise, schedule, and evaluate student tour guides, ambassadors and Admissions Fellows.
  • Develop standardized performance metrics, while maintaining as personalized visit experience as possible.
  • Plan and execute events for admitted students and their families.
  • Work closely with campus offices, including academic departments, athletics, financial aid, and housing to ensure support at events.
  • Manage CRM-related visit tasks including but not limited to establishing the schedule of tours and coordinating event registration for events.
  • Prepare post-event reports on event activity, registration and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, assess outcomes, and improve programming to achieve goals.
  • Complete cost analyses for programs/events.
Marginal job functions:
  • Present Oberlin College of Arts and Sciences and Conservatory of Music to groups of students, parents, secondary school counselors and alumni.
  • Interview and evaluate prospective applicants.
  • Assist with the work of other staff members within the Admissions Office.
  • Evaluate and present applications for admission to the Admissions Committee.
  • Regional recruitment travel for approximately 1-2 weeks a year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum two years of admissions, event planning experience, or customer service experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of project management experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to relate to and communicate with students and families from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, follow through, and creative planning skills.
  • Ability to analyze challenges and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi?task, take initiative, establish priorities, and function with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work within a team, as well as with stakeholders across the college campus.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet Oberlin College insurability standards. Must be comfortable driving in unfamiliar areas with GPS assistance in a wide variety of traffic and weather conditions.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to travel independently, work on a computer for up to eight hours a day, and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Available to start July 1, 2022.
Within the range established for these positions, salary and title will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
