Assistant Professor of Theatre and Dance: Acting and Directing

Frostburg State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance seeks applications for a full-time/tenure track Assistant Professor of Theatre with specialization in devised theatre and education to teach classes and direct productions beginning in the Fall of 2022.

The Department of Theatre and Dance offers pre-professional training in Acting, Design and Technology, and Theatrical Studies. Through comprehensive classes and an engaging production season, students participate in real-life experiences that foster in-depth knowledge about the art and business of the theatre profession. The department also encourages and celebrates cultural and stylistic diversity throughout the program, which includes a yearly production season.

The Department of Theatre and Dance is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Acting track of the program presents dynamic classes in acting, voice and movement, stage combat, and dance to train students for the artistic and athletic demands of stage performance.

Responsibilities: Teaching classes in the core of the Theatre major and Acting track and directing for the production season. Specifically seeking candidates with expertise in devising and physical theatre. Courses may include: Introduction to Acting, Introduction to Theatre, Advanced Acting, Creative Dramatics, Marketing Yourself as an Actor, Auditioning, Acting in Simulation, and Modern American Playwrights.

Minimum Qualifications: M.F.A. or Ph.D in Theatre; college level teaching and directing experience. Experience or additional degree in the field of Education, preferred.
