Job Summary: The Educational Technology Support Specialist works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to provide academic and instructional technology support services. The primary responsibilities of this position are to manage and support the hosted learning management system (LMS), provide quality assistance and training services leading to the meaningful integration and development of online and hybrid course models. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

  • Serve as primary source of support for faculty and student users of the hosted learning management system (LMS).
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff and students to support and implement meaningful integrations of educational and instructional tools into teaching and learning activities.
  • Actively works with helpdesk, media services, student support services, and faculty development to create training events and materials relating to the integration of academic technology within the LMS and online teaching and learning.
  • Manage Moodle support requests, research and troubleshoot technical and functional issues and respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist faculty with uploading course content, creating activities, and setting up their gradebooks.
  • Develop and facilitate in-person and virtual educational technology and LMS training and support opportunities.
  • Create and maintain resources and documentation for faculty, staff, and students to effectively use educational technology.
  • Keeps abreast of new trends, tools, and college needs within educational and instructional technology.-Maintain Moodle and online learning support Google site and self-paced training courses.
  • Ensure courses and enrollments are correctly created in the LMS in the required timeframe.
  • Monitor and test scheduled LMS updates and newly released features.
  • Maintains a high level of quality customer service standards responding to end user support requests.-Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Experience providing technical support with LMS (Moodle preferred), Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and Zoom.
  • A working knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in the field of educational and instructional technology.
  • Proven ability to develop and facilitate training sessions and/or workshops and relevant educational materials.
  • Experience providing high quality customer service, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Must be organized, detailed orientated, and have the ability to manage time efficiently.
Education and Experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Educational, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience working with LMS (preferrably Moodle) or online course delivery software.
  • Experience with technical support (preferrably in higher ed).
  • Experience developing and facilitating training materials and events

Support and maintenance of the campus computer equipment will require lifting and transporting computer equipment. (Ability to lift 50lbs) 

Use of general office equipment in an office setting. Sedentary sitting. Requires equal amount of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing multiple levels of stairs, light lifting, near vision, and manual dexterity to perform essential job functions.

Ability to travel between buildings on campus with exposure to inclement weather conditions.

Driving or traveling to locations in and outside of the area on college business. May require travel by car, train, bus, or plane. 

Occasional weekend and evening work may be required. 

Some flexibility with remote work opportunities.
