Arizona Global seeks to recruit a talented strategic and academic planner with a creative approach to problem solving to lead international student recruitment for the Tucson campus, support admissions for our eleven international Microcampuses, and online Global Direct programs. The position holder will play a key role in supporting the university's strategic objectives, as contained in Pillar 4 (Arizona Global) of the university's strategic plan, primarily through the recruitment of international students to the University of Arizona.

The Assistant Vice President for International Admissions and Enrollment reports to the Associate Vice President for Global Affairs, working closely together to develop and support the recruitment and enrollment infrastructure for international prospects looking to pursue a broad portfolio of programs across all levels. Specific duties include ongoing development of processes for consistent communications flows and outreach to prospects, tracking interactions through Slate, streamlining processes for recruitment planning/tracking, ensuring that IEM's reporting needs are met and supporting operationalizing and implementing strategic initiatives. A successful candidate will be a team player with a demonstrated ability to successfully work independently, and who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with AVP Global Affairs to establish international enrollment strategy and objectives
  • Develop, execute, and monitor strategies, systems, processes, learning experiences and networks to accomplish institutional international enrollment goals, facilitate Arizona Global new initiatives and programs
  • Travel internationally on behalf of the institution for recruitment purposes
  • Produce routine and ad-hoc reports, identifying and monitoring key performance indicators, opportunities, challenges, and anticipated changes
  • Lead international student scholarship discussions and strategy with the Global team and campus enrollment leaders
  • Collaborate and interact with campus partners and recruitment partners to facilitate international student recruitment
  • Work with university admissions office on all aspects of the international student application, evaluation, and selection process
  • Collaborate with the director for international marketing and communication to develop and adjust international marketing strategy
  • Identify, and coordinate with professional organizations, stakeholders, government officials and other strategic influencers who directly serve eligible international students
  • Create, implement, and monitor a multi-year international student recruitment plan for new and target international recruitment markets, which align with UA's enrollment goals
  • Facilitate and manage agent agreements and partnerships, as well as oversee the vetting and training of agents
  • Collaboration with Global and campus community to support international student retention efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with university leadership, faculty and staff in coordinating university programs and initiatives
  • Superior communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with academic and administrative colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to gather and interpret prospect student information, create enrollment projections and international student retention
  • Ability to work successfully within large and complex organizations
  • Open-minded and able to adapt to new ideas
  • Ability to undertake successful contract negotiations with external partners/agencies
  • Excellent organizational skills, the ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Demonstrate knowledge and intentionality of in-country recruitment management practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 9 years of international recruitment related work experience, including 5 years of managerial experience
  • Experience leading a team, project, program, or function 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Experience developing an international strategic recruitment plan
  • Experience with international educational issues and trends
  • Experience leading effective enrollment teams involved in telephone, email, and digital outreach
  • Experience developing relationships with external partners and recruitment agencies
  • Experience with CRM or a student database to analyze data and inform planning
