Position Highlights

The Offices of Instruction and Assessment and Digital Learning is seeking an Instructional Technologist to join their diverse team in the support of instructional technologies for the University of Arizona. This position is responsible for troubleshooting issues with instructional technology, developing communication and training materials, and building effective relationships with instructors, instructional support teams, and vendors. This position will collaborate closely with diverse groups of stakeholders, including instructors, staff, instructional designers and technologists, and other university groups across campus. The Offices of Instruction and Assessment and Digital Learning supports the UA's diversity and inclusiveness strategic initiatives designed to create an inclusive environment for all instructors, staff, and students. The candidate chosen for this position will be expected to support diversity and inclusiveness efforts across the unit.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support instructors, staff, and instructional designers to develop approaches with instructional technologies that promote accessibility, scalability, and student success
  • Develop materials and strategies for the adoption, distribution, implementation, and training on instructional technologies
  • Create and deliver orientations related to incorporating instructional technologies into academic settings
  • Create and implement user onboarding and help documents for instructional technologies
  • Serve as the point person for one of the instructional technology tools within the group's tool kit (Zoom, Panopto, TurningPoint (Clickers), PlayPosit, VoiceThread, Badgr, Examity)
  • Troubleshoot issues with instructional technologies for users across the University of Arizona community
  • Form collaborative relationships with vendors, instructors, staff, and instructional support teams to implement instructional technologies with new and/or existing systems on campus
  • Provide instructional technology expertise to inform policy and adoption decision-making
  • Create support networks to learn about and share instructional technologies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current digital instructional technologies and instructional design
  • Knowledge of technology integration and implementation within an LMS
  • Ability to work with staff and instructors to incorporate instructional technologies into courses and/or programs to enhance the learner experience
  • Ability to articulate and communicate difficult concepts clearly and concisely, with a critical attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact within a diverse, multicultural community
  • Ability to prioritize multiple, competing tasks and to meet deadlines in a fast paced team environment
  • An eagerness and agility in learning new skills, technologies, and practices related to education

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional-level experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with Course/Learning Management Systems
  • Experience with providing customer service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a related field
  • 3 years or more working within a team environment
  • Experience with Desire2Learn Brightspace LMS
  • Experience using academic technologies used in the University of Arizona toolkit: VoiceThread, PlayPosit, Badgr, Zoom, Panopto, TurningPoint (Clickers), Google Apps for Education, Adobe Creative Cloud, Examity
  • Experience working with ADA compliance, accessibility issues, and universal design principles
  • Experience with multimedia and interactive learning
  • Experience with creating and conducting training for staff, instructors, and students
