Job Description:

The Department of Professional Education Programs of The Esteves School of Education at Russell Sage College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position (Professor of the Practice) at the rank of Assistant Professor of Education, Physical Education and Health Education, effective for Academic Year 2022/2023. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching load of 21-load-credits per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters).
  • Advising students in the undergraduate physical education program and graduate school health education program
  • Service and scholarship appropriate for a non-tenure track position at a teaching institution through the lens of the Boyer Model.
  • Aid in the recruitment and retention of students in both undergraduate and graduate programs. 


The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in physical education or related area (ABD may be considered depending on anticipated completion date) and the following:

  • Teaching a wide range of courses for physical education teacher education (undergraduates) and health education teacher education (graduates).
  • Understanding and ability to advise and build relationships with students towards student success.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure for PK- 12 physical education and/or health education.


In addition to the minimum requirements, the preferred candidate will have experience teaching in higher education and PK-12 schools, experience and understanding of edTPA, a track record of collaboration with internal and external departmental constituents for program/course administration, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
