Visiting Faculty: Asst Professor, MSBA, Business Analytics, Welch College of Business & Technology

The Jack Welch College of Business & Technology invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor faculty position in the Department of Economics and Finance, starting August 2022. Candidates are expected to teach courses in the graduate program MS in Business Analytics.

The ideal candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach Data Analytics courses. Classes are offered on Saturdays or weekdays evenings. Approximately sixty percent of the weekly classes (seven out of twelve weeks) will be in-person and other days class instruction is asynchronous online.
  • Potential courses include Introductory Python, Applied Statistics using Python, Supply-Chain Analytics, or Healthcare Analytics.
  • Participate in department, school, and university-level meetings and services


The ideal candidate should have a terminal degree in computer science, economics, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field. ABDs will be considered but must finish the Ph.D. by August 15, 2022. Candidates with MS degree, who have strong experience applying analytics and statistics in real-world applications, will also be considered. A solid background in statistics and a programing language, such as Python, is required. Strong applicants should be versatile, with an ability to teach a variety of courses in the analytics field.

The successful candidate will participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion; apply that understanding to guide their approach to all aspects of their job and the community as a whole and demonstrate that we are "Stronger Together" as described in the Office for Diversity & Inclusion's Mission and Vision statements.

About the Welch College of Business and Technology

SHU's Jack Welch College of Business & Technology (WCBT) is AACSB-accredited and enrolls some 2,000 students. It is housed on Sacred Heart University's West Campus, approximately one kilometer from main campus. Opened in Fall 2019, in the former world headquarters of General Electric, the west campus is focused on digital innovation and how it is transforming business in the 21st century. The campus includes state-of-the art labs, equipment, and studios to support research on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, financial computation, machine learning, augmented reality/virtual reality, and e-game design.

The Jack Welch College of Business and Technology (WCBT) offers undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Management, Economics, Finance, Hospitality Management, Marketing, Sports Management and Fashion Marketing & Merchandising. The School of Computer Science and Engineering (which is part of the WCBT) offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science/Information Technology, Game Design and Development, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The WCBT offers eight Master's programs: MS in Computer Science, MS Information Technology, MS Cybersecurity, MS Business Analytics, Masters in Business Administration, MS in Accounting, MS Finance and Investment Management, MS Human Resource Management, MS Digital Marketing, and the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA-Finance).

Nearly sixty full-time faculty and four staff members bring an impressive range of expertise to the WCBT with terminal degrees and advanced training from leading universities. The WCBT is committed to enhancing its reputation and its engagement with the business community while raising its scholarly profile, and supporting faculty research and development.
