Farmingdale State College seeks a self-motivated and team oriented individual to join our Procurement Office as an Accounts Payable Associate, reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager. The selected individual should be able to communicate between departments and vendors in a timely fashion and become familiar with the New York State procurement guidelines and finance law. The successful candidate must be highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to multi task. In this position, the candidate will perform a variety of accounts payable duties including but not limited to:

  • Processing payments for all purchase orders, requisitions, and travel reimbursements, ensuring compliance with NYS and SUNY rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring that voucher and travel files are complete and accurate.
  • Processing refunds of appropriations as needed.
  • Reconciliation of Travel and NET card transactions.
  • Liaison between the campus and SUNY administration, Office of the State Comptroller, and NYS Division of Taxation and Finance.
  • Assisting the campus community to expediate and resolve Accounts Payable and Travel issues.
  • Management of the Accounts Payable and Travel webpages, including content creation.
  • Assisting the Accounts Payable Manager in educating the campus on NYS rules and regulations, including Travel and NET cards.
  • General phone support and overall office administration.

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and MS PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment


  • Proven ability to work independently and/or under minimal supervision
  • Experience working in higher education, preferably a SUNY college
  • Knowledge of NYS Accounts Payable and travel policies and procedures
  • Experience with e-Procurement systems; specifically, JAGGEAR is a plus

Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Wednesday, May 11, 2022 and ending Tuesday, May 24, 2022, UUP Farmingdale applications will be given priority.
  • Salary: $55,000/year
