Position Announcement



Provide administrative support services to the Psychology Department Chair, department faculty, and students within the various Psychology programs, at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Supervise part-time clerical staff. Additional information about the department and program offerings can be found online at https://psychology.dixie.edu/.



Responsibilities
  • Support department chair with all duties, including but not limited to scheduling of courses, tracking budgets and other financial data, placing maintenance requests, and taking minutes at departmental meetings.
  • Assist in answering phones, receiving messages, and directing students and visitors to the proper areas of campus.
  • Prepare and track purchase requisitions, travel authorizations, purchase card statements, and other University forms and processes as needed.
  • Assist department chair in data management and budget requests; assist faculty with administrative needs as requested.
  • Maintain and oversee inventories of furniture, equipment and supplies for department and programs.
  • Order books and course materials from publishers.
  • Hire, train, and supervise part-time clerical staff within the department.
  • Assist department faculty with office set up, scheduling of classrooms/conference rooms on Event Management System, and scheduling/catering for department and program events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree, equivalent vocational/technical school degree, or equivalent combination of college coursework and experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two years' office experience required; experience working in higher education preferred.
  • Must be well-organized, flexible, and enjoy the administrative challenges of working with a number of programs as well as attentive to detail.
  • Ability to interact with faculty, staff and students at all levels while in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, proactive, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Financial record-keeping experience and administrative support staff experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, Internet, and email.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and correspondence forms.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures including office machines, inventory, and ordering.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time classified staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $32,000, with a desired start date of July 1, 2022.
