Position Highlights

The College of Medicine-Tucson's Information Technology Services (COM-T ITS) within the University of Arizona provides excellent customer service and expertise in technology solutions to the COM-T user base. The successful candidate of this Application Developer will participate in the planning, designing, and development of all software programs and applications. This is a hands-on technical position requiring experience across the software development life cycle, with a focus on enterprise web applications. COM-ITS is responsible for several enterprise applications built on PHP, MySQL, Laravel, Vue, Power Automate, Sharepoint and similar technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, develop, and support web applications and data integration solutions, while ensuring that software projects meet business requirements, fulfill end-user requirements, and system issues are resolved.
  • Perform basic research and fact-finding to assist in developing or modifying information systems. Collaborate with Business Analysts, Quality Assurance team, and end-users on the analysis, design, and testing of web applications and system integrations.
  • Assist in preparing detailed technical specifications, customizations, features, and integrations from which programs will be written.
  • Code, test, debug, document, and maintain the existing applications and websites. Assist in performing content management on websites, SharePoint, and power automate applications.
  • Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Develop and deploy new features to existing products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

*Experience working with object-oriented programming such as Python, PHP and related web frameworks. *Experience working with frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery,bootstrap, Vue, React, NodeJS. *Understanding of MVC design patterns. *Solid understanding of relational database concepts with good SQL skills. *Demonstrated understanding of code versioning tools like git, and familiarity with continuous integration and delivery. *Ability to work cooperatively within a small team environment. Ability to establish, maintain and sustain positive, professional working relationships internally and cross-functionally. *Excellent communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices are critical to successful performance in this role. *Ability to actively seek gaps and issues in processes, make recommendations to fix them and execute any improvements. *Fast learner and assisting on system monitoring and testing. *UI/UX abilities is a plus. *Experience working with Laravel. *Knowledge of SharePoint and Power Automate. *Knowledge of OWASP top 10 web application security risks and ways to handle them in application development. *Knowledge of current design practices and technology. *Expertise in turning user requests into manageable tasks. *Skills in writing technical documentation. *Passion for best practices and a desire to develop and present new innovative solutions.
