Position Highlights

The University of Arizona's Parking and Transportation Services department is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Transit Operations Customer Care Coordinator position. This person will supervise performance of Bus Drivers to ensure program effectiveness and team consistency in providing safe and reliable transit service for University students, staff, and community members. They will ensure program operations are conducted according to department, industry standards, and policy. The Transit Operations Customer Care Coordinator supports program operations and reports improvement opportunities and concerns to Transit Operations Manager.

NOTE: Incumbent must have valid Arizona commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement at time of application. This position is part of a mandated drug-testing program and employee is subject to random drug and alcohol screenings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The primary function of this position is to support the day-to-day operations of our transit program and team members.
  • Oversees the opening and closing of program operations.
  • Ensures program operations are conducted according to department and industry standards and policy.
  • Supports program operations and reports improvement opportunities and concerns to Transit Operations Manager.
  • Works cohesively as a team with other program leads to ensure daily operational goals are met.
  • Evaluates the program's performance which includes a yearly/monthly review of ridership counts by route and stop, driver arrival times, and service start times.
  • Responsible for analyzing performance results to develop a plan of action for Transit Operations Manager.
  • Assists with outreach efforts, including attending tabling events and reviewing webpage information for accuracy.
  • Front line program customer point of contact; responsible for answering customer phone calls and emails from PTS website and processing non-claimed Lost and Found items with UAPD.
  • Oversees the processing and scheduling of charter and advertising requests.
  • Position serves as department contact working with customers, other departments, and vendors.
  • Responsible for processing quotes and invoices.
  • Serves as coordinator during Special Events, including overseeing day-of football game operations.
  • Collaborates with other Lead Coordinators to ensure Standard Operating Procedures, Performance Standards, and University Policies are followed.
  • Collaborates with other Lead Coordinators to determine appropriate bus reroute/detours, as needed.
  • Works with Transit Operations Manager to provide feedback for team's annual Career Conversations.
  • Assists
    with covering operations by driving as needed

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor Environment: Employees work outdoors and may not be protected from weather conditions.
  • Extreme Heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for more than an hour.
  • Noise: There is sufficient noise to cause you to shout in order to be heard above the noise level.
  • Hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity tomoving mechanical parts, moving vehicles,
    electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals in work setting.
  • Oils: There is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting/moving up to 20 pounds often
  • Lifting/moving up to 50 pounds rarely

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Must have valid Arizona Commercial Driver's License Class A or B passenger endorsementat time of application and the ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy. Please note, this requires applicants to have been licensed for a minimum of three years PRIOR to driving in a CDL capacity on University business.
