West Virginia University Research Corporation is seeking applications for a Clinical Research Assistant (part-time) with the Departmentof Ophthalmology.

About the Opportunity

Position will work in collecting, organizing and analyzing prospective iris images collected on surgical patients at the WVU Eye Institute. Remaining time will be spent helping to lead retrospective image and data mining.

What you'll do:

* Image collection: Following patient consent, images will be collected using the TD100 CAM camera, Haag Streit imaging module and Heidelberg infrared iris camera. Collection will be performed prior to ocular surgery and at least 1 week and 1 month following surgery.

* Clinical data collection and organization. Each patient enrolled in the study will have demographic (age, sex, race) and clinical information (iris color, prior ocular history, current surgical intervention, post operative information) collected, de-identified and matched to patient's image set.

* Baseline image analysis and annotation: Iris color, pupil size, light exposure/brightness for all images will be collected. Assistance with iris coding/filtering and calculation of Hamming distance before and after surgery.

  • Associate's degree or Post-secondary certificate in applicable field, or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • At least two (2) years as ophthalmic technician
  • Using slit lamp microscope
  • Experience with Haag Streit imaging system
  • Experience with Heidelberg OCT/infrared imaging system
  • Experience with Epic for clinical data collection
  • Basic Excel work
  • Experience working with patients in an eye clinic.
  • Experience examining eyes and obtaining ocular imaging.
  • Experience with organization of clinical data with HIPAA compliance.
