Position Highlights
The Materials Science and Engineering Department (MSE) is seeking applicants to fill an Administrative Support Assistant III position. The selected candidate will coordinate research activities of students, staff, and faculty in the High-Temperature Materials Laboratory in the Materials Science and Engineering Department. This position will provide support to the user service facility operations, schedule meetings, provide HR assistance and communication with stakeholders within and external to the organization. Maintain financial budgets, payroll, and accounting of expenditures.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and schedule program work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations
- Oversee daily operations, determine priorities
- Coordinate activities of the program with interrelated activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications.Confer with and advises staff, students, and others to provide technical advice, and problem-solving assistance
- Answers questions concerning program goals and policy interpretation or direct to the appropriate person to contact when unable to respond
- Develop and recommend new or revised program goals and objectives
- Monitor and approve program expenditures ensuring that budget allocations are not overspent
- Prepare periodic reports, financial statements, and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies
- Prepare or assists in the preparation of proposals for funding and/or continued funding from outside sponsors
- Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings or conferences
- Coordinate logistics, scheduling and participant communications
- Develop, compile and write communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures or flyers; coordinates process from development through printing and distribution.
- Recruit program participants, members and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings
- Evaluate program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends and/or take appropriate action
- Review applications or other program documents independently or in conjunction with supervisor to determine acceptance or make decisions pertaining to program
- Interact and maintain liaison with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives
- May coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of subordinates
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is
required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in managing service and user facility operations and large scale grant and research contracts
