Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate would demonstrate the following minimum qualifications or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience:
  • Mid-to late-career with Masters and 2-4 years of experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other technology related field and 3-5 years of experience.
License/Certification Required


Preferred Qualifications
  • Application administration experience/familiarity with applications in use by Appalachian State University, such as AppWorx, WebFocus, Dynamic Forms, DocuWare, DocuSign, Brio, Data Transfer, FitnessGram, Intellicheck, and Digital Measures.
  • Familiarity with Banner as a data source/destination.
  • Management experience managing a variety of personnel levels within an organization.
  • Project management experience with large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrated software development, Application Management, or integration experience.
  • HigherEd experience with Ellucian BANNER ERP and Oracle Databases.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile development environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • HigherEd experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The primary mission of the Enterprise Applications Administration (EAA) unit of Information Technology Services is to centrally manage/administer enterprise applications used throughout the university. The EAA Manager will work alongside other IT managers to determine roles and responsibilities and evaluate application coverage. This position will provide a high level of customer service, functional & managerial leadership, along with broad support coverage.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Standardize where possible: Applications, methods, error handling, etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date workflow diagrams of data and inter-system dependencies.
  • Maintain up-to-date versions of application documentation, both online and offline.
  • Document configuration settings especially change from default settings.
  • Work at the right security/privilege level when diagnosing and resolving a problem.
  • Properly source administration accounts.
  • As a management team member, this position also provides senior-level functional guidance and support to the team and provides daily technical decision-making with broad and often institution-wide impacts that affect other systems, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Support documentation of key operational functions and processes.
  • Assist with training, support, and application portfolio management/evaluation.
  • Incident and problem management.
  • Ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of security, data management, and privacy policies, procedures, standards, controls, and reporting with special emphasis on organizational access control standards.
  • Works with infrastructure, support, and application teams to maintain a cohesive support and escalation chain for covered applications.
  • Strong leadership, project, and team-building skills, including the ability to lead teams and drive Enterprise Application and associated initiatives across multiple departments on campus.
