Works collaboratively with the members of the Pre-Licensure nursing department to include the Director of Academic Progression, Director of Undergraduate Nursing, Nursing Faculty and the Associate Dean of Pre-Licensure Nursing to provide a network of support on matters related to academic advising, academic progression, degree requirements, educational and career goals and overall personal well-being.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as advisor to undergraduate nursing students. Work closely with Director of Academic Progression and faculty to create academic advising protocols that support academic success and timely degree completion
  • Establish proactive outreach practices to advisees, guiding students to the available services and supports i.e. Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar, Counseling Services, Veteran Affairs, Tutoring etc.
  • Partner with Associate Dean Pre-Licensure Nursing in supporting needs of undergraduate students and transfer students
  • Design communication plan for cohort students, providing resources, supports and reminders designed to fit the student and cohort lifecycle
  • Serve as point person for new cohort student onboarding, orientation programming etc.
  • Partner with UG enrollment to engage new cohort students
  • Manage Admitted Students event planning and outreach
  • Offer course registration support
  • Manage the use of Starfish in student advising and documentation
  • Monitor advisees who are unregistered and/or on leaves of absence
  • Ensure best practices in undergraduate student support
  • Plan student engagement activities, virtual & in person, related to career readiness, time management and other enrichment programs with an emphasis on adult learner needs
  • Participate in on-going assessment of student academic support services and work with the Associate Dean and Director of Academic Progression to implement undergraduate program policy improvements and best practices
  • Assist with the execution of key undergraduate programming and events, working closely with the Director of Undergraduate Student Services and Advising to ensure programming focuses on the adult learner population. Events include:
  • Orientations and Admitted Student Days
  • Fall and Spring Welcome events
  • President's Luncheons
  • Nursing Pinning Ceremony
  • Commencement

Other Responsibilities

  • Manage various long-term projects as needed for the undergraduate Affairs and Enrollment teams
  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean regarding completion of the annual BORN report and ACEN reports
  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean of Pre-Licensure nursing
  • Serve on committees including the Pinning and Commencement Committee
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Pre-Licensure Nursing

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
  • May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity
  • Regional travel required
  • Attendance at some evening events is required
