Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice

The Department of Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Social Work in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks to hire a scholar at the rank of Assistant Professor with broad teaching and research interests in criminal justice with an emphasis on policing, homeland security, terrorism, and/or other related areas. Candidates for this position must have demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses within the Department, and develop courses within the Department’s criminal investigation and/or homeland security and terrorism concentrations. Candidates will typically teach 12 credit hours in criminal justice per semester. All faculty are also expected to maintain an active scholarly research agenda, as well as student advising and university-wide service responsibilities.

 A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Justice Studies, or in a closely related field is required. ABD will be considered if the degree is conferred by the effective date of the appointment. A J.D. alone is not sufficient for application to this position.
