Job Profile Summary:

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the research, design, development, analysis, testing, and implementation of software and application systems. They communicate project information to multiple partners and departments. They write comprehensive handoff documentation. They support team members and ensures established goals and deadlines are met.

Team Specifics

The rapid response team is a non-product team that is focused on special projects, persistent building, and quality development. Projects completed under the rapid response team will be handed off to another team for maintenance and long-term ownership. The scope of work is to provide value on the fringes of development and support technical teams and business partners at WGU to mitigate detractions from planned commitments. A dedicated working technical lead can help review Pull Requests and offboard content to the requesting team. Their value is also in driving the quality standards at WGU and representing the teams' abilities in meetings.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Required (frontend):

    RxJs (Observables)

    Angular JS 9+

    Responsive Design (Flexbox, CSS Grid)

    Unit Testing (Jasmine, Karma, Jest)

    E2E Testing (Protractor, cypress)

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • 6 years of prior relevant experience.

Department Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience and a proven track record in developing web-based applications and web services using Java, SOAP, REST, XML, and other web technologies, including experience interfacing with Oracle databases, and integrating third party products with existing infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of SOLID engineering principles.

  • A solid understanding of object-oriented programming.

  • API based Application Integrations.

  • JSF, J2EE, Java EE, jQuery, JavaScript.

  • A solid understanding of SOLID engineering principles.

  • Jira.

  • AWS technology.

  • Database experience with SQL and NoSQL.

  • REST API experience with OpenAPI/Swagger, API versioning, API gateways/forwarders and OAUTH2

  • Familiarity with Test Driven Design and test automation.
