Position Announcement

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Dixie State University in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time, professional-track Instructor of the Practice position beginning in August 2022.The successful applicant will join a department of seven full-time faculty members with a diverse disciplinary expertise. We seek applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduates.

Responsibilities
  • Teach 30 credits of lower division lecture and laboratory courses each academic year, primarily in general and introductory chemistry (e.g., Integrated Chemistry for Health Sciences).
  • Collaborate with other faculty in program management, including curriculum development, implementation of innovative teaching methodologies and mentoring part-time instructors as needed.
  • Attend department, division, and college faculty meetings. Hold regular office hours. Adhere to university policies.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Chemistry or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Evidence of potential for successful teaching at the college level required.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work with and assist part-time laboratory instructors.
  • An eagerness to engage with colleagues, staff and administrators to develop ways to improve the educational experience for our students.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) professional non-tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2022, with pay & benefits starting July 1, 2022.
