Delaware Valley University is accepting candidates for Coordinator of Career Services in our Center for Student Professional Development department.

About the Position

The Coordinator is responsible for providing services and programs that support career readiness and professional development for students and that connect students to career education content, knowledge and resources.

The Coordinator partners with the Experience 360 Program Director to form the Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) which facilitates students' career planning journeys from exploration to launch, and assisting students in developing the skills to translate their academic, extracurricular, leadership and E360 activities into a cohesive career plan in order to obtain positive career outcomes.

This is a 12-month, full-time staff position.

Essential job responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for planning a comprehensive program for students to develop career readiness knowledge that includes:
  • Job seeking skills
  • Job coaching and mentoring
  • Career assessment and counseling
  • Interview preparation
  • Resume writing
  • Cover letter and thank you letter writing
  • Development of professional documents and online profiles
  • Manage the direction of the Career Services office independently while working collaboratively with the Director of the E360 program on areas of overlap within the CSPD
  • Coordinate programs such as job and career fairs that connect employers and students around employment opportunities
  • Provide leadership and guidance, supervise and mentor staff including Employer Relations and Career Advisor, Administrative Assistant, graduate assistant and student workers
  • Provides career counseling and guidance to students and occasionally alumni
  • Oversee content for Career Services web pages, hard copy brochures, and student resource hub, as well as CSPD social media outlets (LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook)
  • Develop career curriculum and coursework as needed
  • Implement the First Destination Career Outcomes survey, tracking outcomes throughout the first year after graduation and reporting results to campus stakeholders
  • Delivers presentations and workshops to current students and campus stakeholders about opportunities provided by Career Services
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Human Resources, Educational Psychology, Business, Marketing or related field
  • Minimum three years' related experience

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of career planning and development relevant to University students
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple ongoing projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well with ambiguity under limited supervision
  • Effective management, supervisory, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in recruiting software such as NACElink
  • Understanding and appreciation of the role of experiential learning as a component of academic learning

Physical demands and working conditions for this position include:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally lifting 25 lbs or less
