Job Summary:

SWOSU seeks a proven leader who is student-centered, and results oriented to lead the Department of Student Financial Services (SFS).

Under minimal supervision, the Director oversees SFS on Weatherford's campus and the technical operations of remote campuses such as Sayre and Yukon. These job functions include establishing goals and procedures for the office and coordinating the department's staff and budgetary matters effectively. The Director has overall responsibility for compliance of university policies and procedures and state or federal mandates for responsibility areas. These tasks are to be performed in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assist the students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Description of Job Duties:

  • Responsible for ensuring SWOSU's compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies governing student financial assistance.
  • Oversee the technical operations of the Student Financial Services Office in Sayre and Yukon's growing SWOSU programming.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient development and utilization of the Department's budgetary funds, this includes overseeing and accountability for budgetary record keeping and usage of monies and scholarships.
  • Oversee all functions of all financial aid programs.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient staffing, training, development, and supervision of SFS employees.
  • Prepare required reports for federal, state, and institutional needs.
  • Promote a positive image of SWOSU through participation in community and professional organizations, representing SWOSU at professional meetings and on community committees, and establishing and maintaining credible relations with various news media.
  • Actively participate in professional development activities
  • Attend meetings and workshops as may be required
  • Maintain and update the Federal Program Participation Agreement

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Available to assist with emergency situations during or after working hours whether in-person, by phone or email contact
  • Occasional off campus group speaking on financial aid related topics
  • Contribute as a member of the SWOSU Scholarship Committee
  • Contribute to campus involvement as desired by the President and Vice President for Student Services
  • Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe working environment
  • Perform other work-related duties as called upon or assigned

Terms of Employment:

  • Twelve-month status
  • Reports to Dean of Enrollment
  • Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe working environment
  • Salary to be established by SWOSU's salary structure
Education and Experience
  • Master's degree preferred, a Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related and pertinent field is required. Extensive student financial aid experience may be substituted for this requirement
  • Excellent intermediate level mathematical and accounting skills are required
  • Strong written, verbal, grammatical and interpersonal skills are required
  • Previous financial aid, accounting, banking, marketing and tax regulations or counseling work experience is preferred
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague is preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or his/her designee may find appropriate
  • Expert level knowledge of the state and federal regulations that govern financial aid and the and the resources available to ensure compliance
