The Nursing Department at Methodist University seeks highly qualified applicants for a full time, open-rank, 12-month faculty appointment to begin August 1, 2022.

The successful candidate will provide online instruction, including the coordination, preparation, and presentation of course materials and the evaluation of student progress. Integral aspects of the position include implementation of the Program’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes and course objectives through classroom instruction, clinical education, and service to the college, health system and community. Additional responsibilities include advising students, participation in program evaluation and improvement plans, participation in departmental and college faculty meetings, service on nursing and university committees, and demonstration of a willingness to support the Department of Nursing Program’s mission and goals. All faculty positions have additional expectations for scholarship as well as university and community service.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree (PhD or DNP) in nursing or related field required, and a current unrestricted license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina. Clinical expertise of two years full-time required; five years’ experience full-time preferred. Knowledge and ability in current nursing care, nursing procedures, and related technology. Minimum of one-year formal teaching or program planning experience in graduate nursing education preferred. Current American Heart Association certification in BLS-Health Care provider. Must be able to demonstrate expertise through performance of a teaching demonstration.

Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience in curriculum development, teaching in online and hybrid classroom environments at the graduate level, and to applicants with teaching and scholarly experiences that align with the Methodist University commitment to fostering equity and inclusion in all of our university practices.

Required prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. This preparation may be demonstrated by one of the following:

1. completion of 45 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education courses;

2. completion of a certificate program in nursing education;

3. nine semester hours of graduate course work in adult learning and learning principles;

4. national certification in nursing education; or

5. documentation of successful completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contact hours approved by the Board. Criteria for approval include content in the faculty role in the curriculum implementation, curricular objectives to be met and evaluated, review of strategies for identified student population, and expectations of student and faculty performance.
