Responsibilities:

The Associate Dean for Nursing is responsible for effective and efficient management of all School of Nursing (SON) academic initiatives including adherence to professional and accreditation standards, developing and managing priority projects, budgeting and resource management.
  • Maintain a professional image, attitude and work area; exhibit professional behavior, language, communication and demeanor.
  • Facilitate positive communication and collegial relationships with students, faculty, staff, and clinical partners to promote positive learning environments.
  • Maintain high performance standards that support the overall strategic plan and vision of the School of Nursing, CHSN and the University.
  • Facilitate onboarding and professional development for faculty and staff and conduct performance evaluations under the direction of the CHSN Dean.
  • Serve on the CHSN Leadership team, attend campus meetings and represent the CHSN Dean in his/her absence.
  • Assist with recruitment and enrollment initiatives.
  • Maintain a teaching workload approved by the CHSN Dean.
  • Pursue extramural funding to support strategic program objectives

  • Health Sciences and Nursing, Medicine and Pharmacy
  • Assure compliance with accreditation requirements for all nursing programs (BSN, MSN, DNP)
  • Resolve student academic progression issues

Required Education - Valid RN licensure, or eligibility to obtain RN licensure, in Tennessee. - Earned doctoral degree in nursing or related field from an accredited institution required.

Required Experience Substantial higher education administrative and leadership experience at the department chair level or above with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. This is a 12-month academic appointment with rank of Associate Professor or above, tenured or eligible for tenure.
